Exploring the Map

The Explore tab is a full-screen interactive map of every approved gym on GymMaps. This is where GymMaps goes deeper than any other gym finder: you don’t just search for “a gym”. You search for the exact equipment, discipline, or amenities you need.

Map basics

• Clustering: nearby gyms group into clusters as you zoom out. Tap a cluster to zoom in and split it apart.
• Gym type markers: fitness gyms 🏋️ and martial arts gyms 🥊 have visually distinct pins, so you can tell at a glance what kind of training a marker offers.
• Your location: grant location access and the map centres on you, showing what’s trainable nearby.
• Tap a pin to preview the gym, then open its full gym page.

Search

Search by gym name or location. The most useful habit for travellers: jump to your destination city before the trip and scout the training scene in advance: check equipment, prices, and opening hours from your sofa, then save the good ones to a list.

Why equipment-level search matters

Google Maps can tell you a building called a gym exists. It can’t tell you whether that gym has a squat rack, whether the dumbbells stop at 24 kg, or whether it’s a stretching studio that happens to use the word “gym”. GymMaps listings are structured: every gym carries a community-maintained equipment list, so the map filter is answering the question you actually have: can I do my training here? The web map
