Getting Started
GymMaps is free on iOS and Android. This page walks you through your first five minutes: installing the app, creating an account, and finding your way around.
1. Download the app
Get GymMaps from the App Store or Google Play. Itβs free: searching gyms, viewing equipment lists and prices, reading reviews, and contributing all cost nothing.
2. Browse, with or without an account
You can open GymMaps and explore the map, search gyms, and read gym pages straight away. An account is needed for anything that writes to the community:
- Writing reviews
- Checking in and collecting Passport stamps
- Saving favorites and lists
- Uploading photos and videos
- Adding gyms and suggesting edits
3. Create an account
Two ways to sign up:
- Email and password: the standard route, works everywhere.
- Sign in with Apple: one tap on iOS, no separate password to remember.
4. Onboarding
On first launch after signing up, GymMaps asks a short survey about how you train and what youβre looking for. It takes under a minute and helps shape what gets built next. You can also opt in to notifications and the mailing list. Joining the mailing list earns your first +10 points (more on points in Points & Levels).
The four tabs
Everything in GymMaps lives under four tabs:
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| πΊοΈ Explore | The map: search, filter, and discover gyms anywhere in the world. See Exploring the Map. |
| β€οΈ Favorites | Your saved gyms and custom gym lists. See Favorites & Lists. |
| π Passport | Your stamps, check-in history, and travel stats. See The Fitness Passport. |
| π€ Profile | Your points, level, contributions, and settings. See Profile & Settings. |
Where to go next
