Gyms in Uluwatu: Where to Train, Stay and Buy a Day Pass

12 min read•Updated October 2026

Short answer

Uluwatu's gyms are spread across the Bukit peninsula, so where you stay matters. Bingin has the best cluster: Bambu Fitness (from IDR 250,000, with pool, sauna and ice baths), Bali Training Centre and Bali Fit Corner, all within a 10-minute walk. ULU Active is the recovery gym, Muscle Beach Club and Raw Gym are in Ungasan, and ISBC is the fight gym. Day passes run from IDR 25,000 at a local gym to IDR 400,000. Bring a scooter licence; go between April and October.

Uluwatu is Bali's surf coast: limestone cliffs, world-class reef breaks and villas strung along the southern tip of the Bukit peninsula. Its gym scene has caught up fast, with gyms that have pools, saunas and ice baths sitting alongside fight gyms and cheap local weights rooms.

This guide is Uluwatu and the Bukit only: the gyms, what they cost, which part to stay in, and how long it takes to get between them. For the rest of the island, see our Bali gym guide, or the area guides for Canggu, Seminyak and Kuta and Legian.

Uluwatu's Areas: Pick the One Your Gym Is In

"Uluwatu" is used for the whole south-western Bukit, from the temple and the Suluban break in the west to Ungasan in the east. The roads are hilly and there are few pavements, so the area you stay in decides which gyms you can walk to.

The Bukit, west to east. Bingin, the main gym cluster, is pin 3.

2

Padang Padang and Jl. Labuansait: The main road along the cliffs, lined with cafés and guesthouses. ULU Active, ISBC and ULU FIT are all on or near it.

3

Bingin: Cliffside villas and warungs above a small beach, and the busiest gym cluster on the Bukit: Bambu, Bali Training Centre and Bali Fit Corner.

4

Pecatu, inland: The villages either side of Jl. Raya Uluwatu, away from the coast. Cheaper to stay, with the most basic local gyms.

5

Ungasan: The eastern side of the Bukit, along Jl. Raya Uluwatu, with Muscle Beach Club, Raw Gym and Point One.

Getting Around Uluwatu

🛵 Scooters

Most people staying on the Bukit rent a scooter, often with a surf rack. You need an international driving permit that covers motorbikes for your travel insurance to pay out, and the police do check. The hills and gravel corners are not the place to learn.

📱 Gojek and Grab

Both apps work on the Bukit, but there are fewer drivers than in Seminyak or Canggu, so waits can be longer, especially in the evening. Book the ride home before your session ends.

When to Go: Dry Season vs Wet Season

☀️ April to October: dry season

Sunny, less humid and the best surf on the Bukit's west-facing reefs. July and August are the busiest weeks for both villas and gyms. April to June and September to October give you the weather without the crowds.

🌧️ November to March: wet season

Hot and humid, with heavy downpours that usually come in bursts. Villas are cheaper and the gyms are quieter, which suits long stays.

Before you book:Nyepi, Bali's Day of Silence, usually falls in March. For 24 hours the island shuts down, including the airport and every gym, and you have to stay in your accommodation. Every foreign visitor also pays a one-off tourist levy of IDR 150,000, which you can pay in advance through the official Love Bali website.

💡 Tips for Training in Uluwatu

  • Stay in Bingin if you don't want to ride: it's the only place with three gyms in walking distance.
  • Plan around the tide: most surfers train in the gap between sessions, so gyms get busy when the tide is wrong.
  • Go monthly for long stays: Muscle Beach Club's month costs less than five of Bambu's day passes.
  • Bring your own gloves and wraps for ISBC and Bali Fit Corner.
  • Download Gojek and Grab before you land and compare prices.
